Fiesta!

For all of you girls wanting my guacamole recipe, here it is! Try not to put it in a baggie, cut off the end, and squeeze it into your mouth like chocolate syrup! haha!
I make everything to taste and don't really measure or follow a recipe but here are the basics:
However many avocados you want. Skin and pit them and mash up in a big bowl with a fork. In an electric chopper, I put onion, minced garlic (or fresh), jalapenos, salt, and lemon juice and chop that up. I pour that into the bowl of avocados and mix it really well. Then, I add more salt since I could lick a salt block but everyone has different tastes!
And, there it is...the best guacamole ever! I never liked it until my mom made it this way. Enjoy with some chips and a margarita! :)

Weekend Recap

What a great weekend!
Friday night...we went to a friend's house for dinner and nursery decorating. My husband helped put the crib together and I made her bow holder for her baby! I will post pics of that soon. It turned out so cute!
Saturday night...we had Girls Night In in Pink! We have so many friends having babies and three close ones that are having girls so we had a little get together to celebrate the new girls! My friend Rachel threw the party and it was so fun! Great night! I will post some pictures of that soon too!
We sold our bedroom furniture this weekend! Yay!! I also picked up a dresser that I have to paint so I will be doing that tomorrow! We still need a bed. Right now, our house is a mess since we are doing this. It's driving me CrAzY! I also made a chandelier cord cover. I just used leftover fabric from my throw pillows and I hope its long enough and wide enough. I'm glad I could pull that fabric in somewhere else too.

I also decided that I wanted to "up" the look of the armoire too. So, I asked my mom to either help me wallpaper the doors or cover them in fabric. I will let you know how it goes!
I changed a few things in the dining room too. Busy girl! ha! On one wall, I randomly added a bunch of different frames with some wall decals of skeleton keys in them.
Sorry for all these awful cell pics!

I also took down some cheap shelves that I never loved and put up some decor that I took out of my bedroom. It doesn't match in there any more and it went well in the dining room. I am really into these random arrangements right now!

Sorry for such a long and boring post. I can't wait to post some before and afters of our room. Hopefully within the next couple weeks! Fingers crossed!

Loving Life

Today was a good day. Aubry was good. She played Barbies and helped clean her room. There was no t.v. on today. We sat and cleaned and played. All the laundry was done. Home cooked meal and fresh out of the oven corn bread was waiting on my husband when he got home. My room is a disaster still. Other than that, life is good. Now on to a new day.

Painting, Sewing, and Painting

We had a slow weekend and I got a lot done! So proud of myself! We repainted our entire room...yay! (By the way, sensuous gray was the winner.) Now, I have furniture to repaint. Some furniture to get. Wall decor to buy. A chandelier to re-finish. New bedding to buy. Frames and shelves to paint. And the list goes on....
I will be posting pictures soon as I get things done. Piece by piece. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Today, Aubree (http://www.theseamanfamilyblog.blogspot.com/) showed me how to sew! I have been wanting to learn for awhile and since my sweet husband decided to buy me one I better learn how to use it! We spent a few hours chatting and sewing and it was fun! Here is my first try:
I just love it! Here is a close up of the rosette. I added the button after I got home.

I can't wait to start making some more dresses and getting more patterns to work on. I hope the sewing part improves the more I make!

Sew Sweet

Ryan decided to be "sew" sweet and buy me a sewing machine for Valentine's Day. I think he was feeling like this would keep me busy while he works 18 hours a day! Ha! So after 100 phone calls in a row, his words not mine, he got me the Singer Simple. I hope I can figure this thing out and make some clothes for Miss Priss! I am excited to try something new!
If anyone knows of any good classes, patterns, or tips, let me know! I am going to start on something tonight. I am hoping to tackle a pillowcase dress first. I will post on how it goes. Fingers crossed I can figure out how to work the machine first!

Beauty "Secrets"

I saw that Kelly's Korner was having Show Us Your Life on beauty secrets and thought I would do a quick post about. Then, I remembered that nobody wants to know how I keep my skin nice and oily and acne-prone! I doubt anyone really needs tips on how to have hair breakage! Ha! I guess if anyone does want to know...I will make a quick post about it. :)
Hair: I don't do anything special other than change my color a lot, use a CHI flatiron, and love Biosilk. Skin: I use Neutrogena Daily Scrub. I can't use anything without a scrub or I just feel like I am rubbing the oil around....gross. I use Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer. I like how it feels clean and light.
Make-up: I won't comment on my foundation because it is awful. Let me know if you know of any good ones! I use Sephora brand eyeshadow and bronzer. Covergirl eyeliner. Mascara from Wal-Mart. Blush is something natural and pinky from Mary Kay or Victoria's Secret. Concealer is Almay. I love the mint lip gloss from Bath and Body Works and gold rush from Mary Kay.

Like I said, nothing special. I need some new tips for this skin and some better make up! I will keep reading the posts on Kelly's Korner and hopefully find some!

Ignore the Imperfections

I posted a dresser I found on Craigslist for $20 awhile back. It looked like this before:
I have sanded, primed, and painted it. I added new drawer pulls too. I was wanting glass drawer pulls so I just picked up some cheapies from Home Depot until I could find glass ones that I like. I painted it an aqua blue color so it now looks like this:

Ok, so ignore the missing drawer pull. I can't find a screw long enough for it and I am waiting on Ryan's help for that one. The rest of the dresser I did myself. I also distressed it but you can't really tell in this picture. I got a cute little jewelry holder at Claire's for $2 and put my chandelier earrings on it to dress it up a little. I also bought two little canisters today at Target for $3 to put in that right hand corner.

That was my good deal of the day! :)  So, there is the finished product. Ignore the imperfections of the missing drawer pull and it isn't too bad. Now if only it would warm up so I could get to spray painting my chandelier and armoire for our room.

Super Sunday

Today was Super Bowl Sunday. We decided to take Aubs to a little place close to home called That Fun Place. Nothing fancy but something to do with her and spend time as a family. The food could be better but she had fun and that is all that matters! We played some games and played black light golf. Or I guess I should say, Ryan played golf and Aubry decided that she wanted to stand on a "stage" and dance. We are going to have our hands full with her!
While Ryan watched the game, Aubry and I made cake pops! I got the recipe from the Bakerella website. They are sooo good! They are also really difficult to make them look pretty! Mine look like a 3 year old made them...she did help. :)
                    1297055388527.jpg
You can find the recipe on Bakerella.com. In case you don't want to visit there, I will tell you how I made them. I took one box of red velvet cake mix and baked the cake as the directions stated. When that was done, I took my (clean) hands and scooped the cake out of the pan and mixed it with one can of cream cheese icing. I rolled the mixture into little balls on a cookie sheet and popped them in the freezer for a minute. While they were in there, I melted some chocolate bark in the microwave. I took the cake balls out of the freezer and took my lollipop sticks and dipped them in the melted chocolate then stuck them into the cake balls. I stuck them into a block of styrofoam after I rolled them. After that, I added sprinkles. I added the sprinkles after each one or they will get too hard and the sprinkles won't stick! Like I said, mine aren't pretty but I am hoping that improves with time. You can use any flavor of cake mix and icing that you want. We were just going with the Valentine theme! :)

Beary Cute Valentine

Miss Priss fell asleep at 7 pm! Woohoo! I don't know if it is because she has been shut in all week with this ice storm or what but she has been a hot mess today! Bless her heart. Glad she is getting some rest. LOVE her!
We did her Valentines for school this week since we haven't been able to do much else. She had to write her own name on the back of all her cards and the recipient on the front of the card so they could do a match game with them. I am a proud mama! (Sorry in advance for all of the bad cell phone pictures!)

For her "beary" cute Valentines, we took Teddy Grahams and gummy bears and put them in a little clear bag tied with XOXO ribbon. I attached a tag to the bag that said Bear Hugs to Regan or To My Beary Good Friend Molly. She decorated them with heart stickers and wrote her name on the back. I thought they turned out cute! What three year old doesn't love gummy bears and Teddy Grahams??
Here is a little sneak peek of a skirt I had made for her to wear to her Valentine party and on Valentine's Day. It is precious and I love it! This is the little hair flower she made to match it. I will post a picture of her in it when she wears it.  Thanks again Aubree!
