Moving Right Along...

We sold our house! Yay!! We closed last week. The same day we got a response saying the short sale on the new house was approved! YAY!! We are supposed to be closing sometime in the beginning of October now. I couldn't be more excited considering we have to have the house done (it needs some work) and moved into by December. :) I guess we decide to renovate and move everytime I am pregnant. I am going to be trying to post more as we renovate and redecorate. As soon as we close, I will post pictures of the before.
Aubry started preschool at the end of August. She goes 2 days a week this year and we got the teachers we were wanting. She loves them both and loving school! This is her when she went to meet her teachers.

This is Aubry on her first day of school. She wanted to wear a dress but I made her wear something so she could play outside on the playground. It was a struggle that morning and I am sure there are many more of those to come!

She also had her first sleepover with her cousin Kynsey that day. They get along and play really well together. They're so sweet! They both went to gymnastics and then came back to our house to play....alll....night....long. HA! The next day they had lunch and went to Target for shopping. I think they had a good time!

The past few weeks...months...I lost count.

I haven't been keeping up on blogging...or cleaning...or anything really. We haven't been up to very much lately and I am ready for school to start again Monday and gymnastics is in full swing again too. I am ready to be on a schedule!
Still no word on the house. I am going out of my mind crazy just being ready to get into this new house so I am not moving in the middle of December and being 100 months pregnant. We are expecting our second girl close to Christmas. I am due December 27 but since I had a csection with Aubry then I will have another one on December 20. I have a feeling we may be moving December 27. That would be our fashion since that's how we did it last time!
Just a little update in our lives :)

You've got a friend in me...

Someone recently asked me, "What is a friend?"
To me, that is easy. A friend loves at all times and does not love selfishly. You do things you don't want to do sometimes because it makes someone else happy. We all have to make those sacrifices in our lives whether it is your job, your marriage, your friendships, or in motherhood.

Your friends should make you feel like you never left high school...and have a blast while you are there.

A friend should always be there and love to be around you and know who you are.

Your friends should also represent who you are and who you love to surround yourself with...your family you get to choose.

Wild Thing

She is literally a wild thing always going a mile a minute. She is also wild about some animal prints. When I saw this zebra knit fabric, I had to have it! I had it made into these cute little double ruffles. I think ruffle pants are my favorite thing to put on her. She always says they are comfy and that is a plus.

I had to have a monogrammed matching shirt so I got these cute iron ons from The Green Goose on Etsy. Here is a link to her shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheGreenGooseCo?ref=ss_profile.
The iron ons are really cute and really easy to use. I just iron them on little Target tees. I think we have about seven of these. I haven't made a bow to match yet. I still need to work on that!

Aubry also had her last day of preschool for the year this week. We went to her Spring Sing on Tuesday night and she did great! We loved watching her little class sing their songs. Baseball is still in full swing and going until June 18th so we aren't done with that. She keeps asking to go to Georgia so we need to do that very soon! :) She is excited for summer and swimming. I can't blame her!

Sweet Aubry

Lately, Aubry has been singing the cutest song ever. I don't know the name but we call it "Praise the Lord". I posted a video on my Facebook in case any of you haven't seen it. She has also been praying a little prayer for her food she learned from school. She tells us all the time about how things are the way they are because Jesus made it that way. I love that she is learning so much of this stuff at school. It makes me much happier we send her there and she gets to come home and tell me these little pieces of information. She only has two days left before summer vacation...yay!!! I am so ready for sunshine and pool time!

Just a little note...

Aubry has started t-ball this month and is doing great! I thought she would be the kid in the outfield twirling and picking dandelions, and she still might be, but for now she is doing good at practice. She listens and does what she is told which is a major plus! I have to share this picture that I love because it looks like she is playing, for real.

And let me tell you, Girlfriend has style! Check out that outfit and hairstyle she picked out herself! She was very proud of that.
Some people have been asking me and I am getting back to working on my room. I have a feeling it will be something that will keep on being added to until I redo it again. I am just not settling for "things" just to have them this time. I am thinking about adding some more color too. We will see...

Nailed It

Miss Priss had her first pedicure on Thursday and let me tell you....this girl has never sat so still and been so quiet in her life! The whole salon was full of women and they were amazed and kept asking if she was always so good. I told them that she had her moments but right now she was in her element! haha! She loved it! I loved seeing the big smile plastered on her face the whole time. And how cute is that little princess pedi chair??

Her request was pink zebra nails so that is what she got on her hands and her toes. She was so excited and ready to show everyone and wouldn't let me put on her shoes and socks when we left because she thought it would get messed up.
I also got a shellac manicure and if you haven't had one of these...you should! Amazing! I love it when my nails are polished because they are NOT pretty and break easily! But after an hour, they are chipped and and knicked. The shellac they say will last at least 14 days. I have had this stuff for 2 days and it is perfect. No knicks. No chips. Shiny. Love it!

Why Call Them Wisdom Teeth?

Why are these awful teeth called wisdom teeth? They aren't smart or they wouldn't show up in the first place. They don't give you any wisdom. These teeth make me cringe!
I had my wisdom teeth out last Friday and not a single problem. Not a pain med was needed. Until Sunday. My gum and tooth all of a sudden just started killing me and I had to take something. It is still bothering me and making me cringe. I went in today and they may have to open it back up and clean it out and suture it back up. Gross, I know! So over these teeth and ready for it to all be done so I can go back to focusing on my important things....like doing my room. :)

(Bitter)Sweetness

(Gotta love laundry day!)
This little precious baby who makes my heart melt is 3 years 5 months old (going on 25)! I can't believe it. I feel like yesterday she was born! Since I am doing this blog to look back on, I wanted to start making sure she has a post of accomplishments! :)
Writing her name. Writing different letters and recognizing them. Coloring inside the lines now. Folding laundry. Making her bed. Drawing a ton. Using scissors more. Loves doing crafts. Trying to learn anything she can.
Using manners a lot more lately. Not throwing as many fits. Trying to get your point across without those terrible fits!
Independent. Sassy. Big personality. Fun. Sweet. Talkative. Energetic.
Back bend at gymnastics. Back bend with one leg up. Handstand. Cartwheel. I laugh when she says "Watch Mama!" five million times while she is at gymnastics.
She doesn't eat a lot but she does like to eat well. Loves all veggies and fruits. And of course, fruit snacks.  And cake balls. And any form of sugar.
I love when she comes in and tells me I am so "cuddlish" and she just wants to hug me and give me sugars! I love it! She is my little best friend and I love when she tells me that. I miss her when we aren't together even though I appreciate a couple hours to myself sometimes.
Love that precious little voice and all her made up words. Laugh when she says a word and then asks me if it's a bad word. I feel proud when she starts saying a new word she has learned or starts saying one correctly.
She is like a little sponge right now just soaking up any information I will give her and living in her little world of "Why?". I am working my hardest to make sure that sponge is filled with rainbows and unicorns! haha.
I know I get frustrated sometimes but I am just trying to teach her how to be well-behaved! Little does she know, she is teaching me. Such a big girl...kind of bittersweet.

Moving Right Along

Today was my first bad experience with Craigslist! I was talking to a woman about a bed and told her "SOLD!! I want it. I was going to pick it up tomorrow. Well, she went right on ahead and sold it tonight. I guess you can't rely on buyers on Craigslist but still...I was hoping she would hold it for me. I guess it's not all about me though!
I did get some new stuff for our room. I can't wait until this thing is done. I am so ready to have my room back. Our house has been a disaster and I am sure my husband would like to sleep in his own bed again!
I saw a starburst mirror similar to this one at Target for $24.99. I almost bought it but thought it was too much. Last night, I was browsing some other blogs and saw someone had bought this cute thing at Family Dollar for $10. I went in there today expecting our store not to have them but they did! (That is the paint color of the walls back there behind it too!)
I have been trying to do our whole room on a budget but I did special order some lamps from Hobby Lobby yesterday. They are perfect and they were 50% off so I couldn't pass them up. They were a huge splurge for me but they were the same price as the lamp bases I wanted from Target and these come with really cute shades so I tried to justify it that way! I can't wait for them to come in!

So, I have been seeing where a lot of people are decorating with numbers lately. I wanted a cute way to incorporate that into our room. I bought these two canvases at Michael's for $2 and didn't know what I would do with them. Today, I decided to add the numbers. I did 968 because 9.6.08 was the day we got married. I just painted those on with some of Aubry's craft paint. I haven't decided what to put on the black one yet. Any suggestions?

My Little Gymnast

This just melts my heart. Sweet girl.

Today, Miss Priss had gymnastics. I was a competitive gymnast and she goes to the same place that I used to go. And no, I didn't put her in gymnastics. She asked to take the classes.
I hear her name 50x that hour because she is so active and always dancing around and trying to show everyone what she can do. I hear, "Mama WATCH!" the entire time too. Haha!

She can do a back bend now and she can do it with one leg up. She still needs to work on getting those legs straight and pointing those toes.

Not too bad for a handstand. Still needs some work. Lol.

She has her splits in the kitchen but the carpet at the gym holds her up! Ha!

She is going to bite her tongue off if she keeps it like that! haha! As you can see, we are hot messes at the gym!

Trying to do a back hip circle by herself.

She is getting there! :)

Loving those pointed toes in her handstand on the bar. She kept telling the coach she could do it by herself. haha! She then told her that she could do giants. If you don't know what those are, google them. You might laugh at thinking she could do them by herself!

Fiesta!

For all of you girls wanting my guacamole recipe, here it is! Try not to put it in a baggie, cut off the end, and squeeze it into your mouth like chocolate syrup! haha!
I make everything to taste and don't really measure or follow a recipe but here are the basics:
However many avocados you want. Skin and pit them and mash up in a big bowl with a fork. In an electric chopper, I put onion, minced garlic (or fresh), jalapenos, salt, and lemon juice and chop that up. I pour that into the bowl of avocados and mix it really well. Then, I add more salt since I could lick a salt block but everyone has different tastes!
And, there it is...the best guacamole ever! I never liked it until my mom made it this way. Enjoy with some chips and a margarita! :)

Weekend Recap

What a great weekend!
Friday night...we went to a friend's house for dinner and nursery decorating. My husband helped put the crib together and I made her bow holder for her baby! I will post pics of that soon. It turned out so cute!
Saturday night...we had Girls Night In in Pink! We have so many friends having babies and three close ones that are having girls so we had a little get together to celebrate the new girls! My friend Rachel threw the party and it was so fun! Great night! I will post some pictures of that soon too!
We sold our bedroom furniture this weekend! Yay!! I also picked up a dresser that I have to paint so I will be doing that tomorrow! We still need a bed. Right now, our house is a mess since we are doing this. It's driving me CrAzY! I also made a chandelier cord cover. I just used leftover fabric from my throw pillows and I hope its long enough and wide enough. I'm glad I could pull that fabric in somewhere else too.

I also decided that I wanted to "up" the look of the armoire too. So, I asked my mom to either help me wallpaper the doors or cover them in fabric. I will let you know how it goes!
I changed a few things in the dining room too. Busy girl! ha! On one wall, I randomly added a bunch of different frames with some wall decals of skeleton keys in them.
Sorry for all these awful cell pics!

I also took down some cheap shelves that I never loved and put up some decor that I took out of my bedroom. It doesn't match in there any more and it went well in the dining room. I am really into these random arrangements right now!

Sorry for such a long and boring post. I can't wait to post some before and afters of our room. Hopefully within the next couple weeks! Fingers crossed!

Loving Life

Today was a good day. Aubry was good. She played Barbies and helped clean her room. There was no t.v. on today. We sat and cleaned and played. All the laundry was done. Home cooked meal and fresh out of the oven corn bread was waiting on my husband when he got home. My room is a disaster still. Other than that, life is good. Now on to a new day.

Painting, Sewing, and Painting

We had a slow weekend and I got a lot done! So proud of myself! We repainted our entire room...yay! (By the way, sensuous gray was the winner.) Now, I have furniture to repaint. Some furniture to get. Wall decor to buy. A chandelier to re-finish. New bedding to buy. Frames and shelves to paint. And the list goes on....
I will be posting pictures soon as I get things done. Piece by piece. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Today, Aubree (http://www.theseamanfamilyblog.blogspot.com/) showed me how to sew! I have been wanting to learn for awhile and since my sweet husband decided to buy me one I better learn how to use it! We spent a few hours chatting and sewing and it was fun! Here is my first try:
I just love it! Here is a close up of the rosette. I added the button after I got home.

I can't wait to start making some more dresses and getting more patterns to work on. I hope the sewing part improves the more I make!

Sew Sweet

Ryan decided to be "sew" sweet and buy me a sewing machine for Valentine's Day. I think he was feeling like this would keep me busy while he works 18 hours a day! Ha! So after 100 phone calls in a row, his words not mine, he got me the Singer Simple. I hope I can figure this thing out and make some clothes for Miss Priss! I am excited to try something new!
If anyone knows of any good classes, patterns, or tips, let me know! I am going to start on something tonight. I am hoping to tackle a pillowcase dress first. I will post on how it goes. Fingers crossed I can figure out how to work the machine first!

Beauty "Secrets"

I saw that Kelly's Korner was having Show Us Your Life on beauty secrets and thought I would do a quick post about. Then, I remembered that nobody wants to know how I keep my skin nice and oily and acne-prone! I doubt anyone really needs tips on how to have hair breakage! Ha! I guess if anyone does want to know...I will make a quick post about it. :)
Hair: I don't do anything special other than change my color a lot, use a CHI flatiron, and love Biosilk. Skin: I use Neutrogena Daily Scrub. I can't use anything without a scrub or I just feel like I am rubbing the oil around....gross. I use Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer. I like how it feels clean and light.
Make-up: I won't comment on my foundation because it is awful. Let me know if you know of any good ones! I use Sephora brand eyeshadow and bronzer. Covergirl eyeliner. Mascara from Wal-Mart. Blush is something natural and pinky from Mary Kay or Victoria's Secret. Concealer is Almay. I love the mint lip gloss from Bath and Body Works and gold rush from Mary Kay.

Like I said, nothing special. I need some new tips for this skin and some better make up! I will keep reading the posts on Kelly's Korner and hopefully find some!

Ignore the Imperfections

I posted a dresser I found on Craigslist for $20 awhile back. It looked like this before:
I have sanded, primed, and painted it. I added new drawer pulls too. I was wanting glass drawer pulls so I just picked up some cheapies from Home Depot until I could find glass ones that I like. I painted it an aqua blue color so it now looks like this:

Ok, so ignore the missing drawer pull. I can't find a screw long enough for it and I am waiting on Ryan's help for that one. The rest of the dresser I did myself. I also distressed it but you can't really tell in this picture. I got a cute little jewelry holder at Claire's for $2 and put my chandelier earrings on it to dress it up a little. I also bought two little canisters today at Target for $3 to put in that right hand corner.

That was my good deal of the day! :)  So, there is the finished product. Ignore the imperfections of the missing drawer pull and it isn't too bad. Now if only it would warm up so I could get to spray painting my chandelier and armoire for our room.

Super Sunday

Today was Super Bowl Sunday. We decided to take Aubs to a little place close to home called That Fun Place. Nothing fancy but something to do with her and spend time as a family. The food could be better but she had fun and that is all that matters! We played some games and played black light golf. Or I guess I should say, Ryan played golf and Aubry decided that she wanted to stand on a "stage" and dance. We are going to have our hands full with her!
While Ryan watched the game, Aubry and I made cake pops! I got the recipe from the Bakerella website. They are sooo good! They are also really difficult to make them look pretty! Mine look like a 3 year old made them...she did help. :)
                    1297055388527.jpg
You can find the recipe on Bakerella.com. In case you don't want to visit there, I will tell you how I made them. I took one box of red velvet cake mix and baked the cake as the directions stated. When that was done, I took my (clean) hands and scooped the cake out of the pan and mixed it with one can of cream cheese icing. I rolled the mixture into little balls on a cookie sheet and popped them in the freezer for a minute. While they were in there, I melted some chocolate bark in the microwave. I took the cake balls out of the freezer and took my lollipop sticks and dipped them in the melted chocolate then stuck them into the cake balls. I stuck them into a block of styrofoam after I rolled them. After that, I added sprinkles. I added the sprinkles after each one or they will get too hard and the sprinkles won't stick! Like I said, mine aren't pretty but I am hoping that improves with time. You can use any flavor of cake mix and icing that you want. We were just going with the Valentine theme! :)

Beary Cute Valentine

Miss Priss fell asleep at 7 pm! Woohoo! I don't know if it is because she has been shut in all week with this ice storm or what but she has been a hot mess today! Bless her heart. Glad she is getting some rest. LOVE her!
We did her Valentines for school this week since we haven't been able to do much else. She had to write her own name on the back of all her cards and the recipient on the front of the card so they could do a match game with them. I am a proud mama! (Sorry in advance for all of the bad cell phone pictures!)

For her "beary" cute Valentines, we took Teddy Grahams and gummy bears and put them in a little clear bag tied with XOXO ribbon. I attached a tag to the bag that said Bear Hugs to Regan or To My Beary Good Friend Molly. She decorated them with heart stickers and wrote her name on the back. I thought they turned out cute! What three year old doesn't love gummy bears and Teddy Grahams??
Here is a little sneak peek of a skirt I had made for her to wear to her Valentine party and on Valentine's Day. It is precious and I love it! This is the little hair flower she made to match it. I will post a picture of her in it when she wears it.  Thanks again Aubree!

41 Hours and Counting

One of my best friends will find out in less than 41 hours what the gender of her baby is....I am so excited and can't wait! Especially since I am co-hosting her shower! Whatever the baby is...it will be loved, that's for sure!
I picked up a chandelier for my room re-do and it is an antique brass chandelier and very heavy! Not bad for $30. I am having a hard time deciding what to do with it and need some help. I am trying to decide between painting it silver, white, or black. What do you think? Also, I am adding hanging crystals. I don't know if I want to use a lot or a little. Decisions, Decisions...
Sorry, it's not a great picture. It is the one she sent me in an email.

I also picked up an armoire about a week ago for only $25 so I have to decide what to paint it too. But, here is the color I am thinking for the walls.
                                          SW7081 Sensuous Gray
                                             Sensuous Gray or......
                                          SW6263 Exclusive Plum
                                                  Exclusive Plum

Yes, they are both really similar and they are in the violet family. I found them on the Sherwin Williams. My friend used the sensuous gray in her dining room and it is soo pretty! Those are my two choices. In case you can't tell on the computer, I swear there is a difference! :)

Time for Change

I don't know if it's the weather or what but I am ready for change. First, I started with my hair. I went from blond, to yuck blondish brown, then to a dark burgundy color. I am going back tomorrow to make it more red and less purple. It is looking a little Snooki-ish.
Next, I want to change my bedroom. A lot of you know it is poop brown. The furniture is brown. The bedding is brown. The walls are brown. Wall decor, curtains, bedding...yep, pretty much everything. Gross.
So, I got online today and looked at some "inspiration". I might try to sound like Nate Berkus but trust me, I am not. So it probably won't look anything like some designer magazine spread! Scratch that...I know it won't! Ha!
I love this house!! It is the bungalow of Lizzie Carney. I saw her on Nate Berkus (little crush on him) and loved all her chandeliers! That is a must in my bedroom this time. I like her bedroom too (minus the pink..not my style).

Love the chandelier, the iron bed, and all the white in this room. I am going towards white bedding right now too.
I am in love with this room! Combine these two rooms and it might be close to perfect.  I would love to be brave enough to wallpaper or stencil! We will see!
All of these photos can be found on Country Living here: http://www.countryliving.com/homes/how-to-get-the-look/bedroom-designs-2008

Is anyone else ready for change? What do you think of these rooms? I will be posting all my bargain finds and bedroom changes on here soon.

Hot Mess Snow Day

Days like today where we are snowed in and I am wrapped in a robe on top of 5 sweatshirts are lazy days in our house! They are saying 2-4 inches or 3-6...it all depends on who is talking. Our cousin Anna is going to Daytona and enjoying the "spring weather" (her words...I'm so jealous!) and we are getting this....

This is our sidewalk, road, and field across the street. I can't tell either. Brrr!!

Since it's a lazy day, Aubry looks like this....

That's right...hot mess! I told her it was too cold for that and her response: "But I'm wearing peace sign socks!". I guess it's a step up from her swimsuit, knee high Fancy Nancy socks, and leopard high heels.  The girl loves playing dress up.

Sick Baby and a Shadow box

Aubry has been sick the past couple of days. She took some cough medicine tonight when she asked to go to bed at 7:00!!!!!! If you know her at all, you know she must not feel good if she a) asked to go to bed and b) was asleep before 7:30! Not like her at all. Bless her heart...I hope she gets to feeling better because she is going to Toy Story 3 Disney on Ice tomorrow night and Mama needs a happy girl!

I have been obsessed with The Nate Show lately. I DVR it every morning and watch it at night most of the time. He is going to get me in trouble though because he has made me obsessed with redecorating. Since I am trying to redecorate on a budget I am obsessed with Craig...Craigslist. I think Ryan cringes when I mention it. I didn't get this shadow box on Craigslist but I did get a good deal on it and I had been looking for something to put some vintage looking Barbie cards in to put up in Aubs room. This was perfect.

I love it and can't wait to figure out where to put it.

I am still working on the Craigslist dresser but I love how it is turning out. Ryan is supposed to be going to pick up the armoire (don't know if that is spelled right)  I got off of there this week so looks like I will have another project waiting.
